Myth #1 – Metal Buildings Are Weak
This is a common myth when people discuss metal buildings as compared to their wood counterparts. The prevailing thinking seems to be that metal buildings can’t compare to wood structures in terms of overall strength and durability. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth.
The problem here is that not all metal buildings are created equal. Have some companies over the years produced metal buildings that weren’t particularly strong and didn’t hold up well over time? After all, metal is an excellent conductor of heat, so the temperature outside the building is going to quickly be transferred to the inside. That is, unless insulation is used. With insulation in place, this problem is mitigated, and it’s entirely possible to keep a metal building very comfortable.
It’s always a good idea for any metal building that is going to be used actively by people throughout the year to have sufficient insulation added. That insulation will serve as a barrier between the metal itself and the interior space of the structure. There won’t be as much heat transfer this way, and the temperature inside the building will be far less prone to dramatic swings up or down.
