Is There a Limit on the Length of a Metal Building?

The answer is NO! At American Carports, we do not put limitations on the length of our metal buildings. If you ever need a building longer than our flyers advertise, don’t let that discourage you from making a purchase. You’d be surprised how many people call us asking if they can go longer than 51’—and our answer is always yes!

Although the most common request on our buildings is 60’ long, there have been cases where customers have big projects in mind that can be as long as a 100’! And since we’re talking about long metal buildings, why don’t you take a look at this 24’W x 61’L x 10’H custom metal building:

This custom metal building has an insulated roof (which is totally optional), two (2) 10’ x 8’ roll-up doors, four (4) windows on the side of the building, and a walk-in door.

Remember that we can customize any metal building according to your needs and requirements. We can also add insulation to your unit—but remember that the panels must run vertically in order for us to do so.

Need something larger? We’re always here to help create that metal building of your dreams! Our sales experts will stand by you for the entire process until we get exactly what you’re looking for. We can also provide a free sketch to figure out the details and visualize your metal building together! Call us now, and don’t forget to ask about our financing options.

Fully Vertical Metal Garage

Want to have real garage doors?

At American Carports, we don’t only offer roll-up doors. We also have overhead doors to give you a residential look and quality. Our garages doors come in a standard design, meaning they don’t have windows or insulation,  but you can upgrade overhead doors with glass windows, and if the unit will be fully insulated, you can insulate the door too! Our overhead doors are also compatible with garage openers.

Look at this fully vertical metal garage rocking our overhead doors:

 26’W x 31’L x 11’H

• 12-Gauge Galvanized Tubing

• Fully Vertical

• 2 – 10′ x 10′ Overhead Doors

• 36″ x 80″ Walk-In Door (on the side)

• Concrete Anchors (90-mph wind warranty)

*Disclaimer: interior designs may vary by state or region*

What are the advantages of a fully vertical garage?

One of the main advantages is low maintenance. Because the panels run vertically, they’re also more strongly recommended for northern areas, especially places with heavy snowfall.

How do I have my building certified for the snow loads in my area?

Our buildings are already certified for 30 psf. But if your area has heavy snow loads, we can certify our buildings to withstand those too. On top of that, vertical siding WILL NOT let snow accumulate on the roof or cause it to collapse.

We’re almost into summer, and the elevated temperatures will make it a good idea to acquire a metal garage to protect your vehicle from the blazing sun. Keep your car in the shade to prevent the paint from fading and cracking.

Give us a call! We can help you picture the metal garage of your dreams! Remember, delivery and installation are FREE on your level land or concrete pad. Want to see more buildings? Go to our blogs for more recently installed metal buildings and valuable information.

What Are My Steel Roof Options?

Are you considering a steel garage or steel carport? If so, the first thing you will need to think about is how you will be using your unit. The next step, figure out what roof option you need.

The roof of your steel unit is very important as it will be what protects your belongings. Your steel roof choice can also depict the look of your steel unit, too.

At American Steel, we have two roofing options available to choose from.

A-Frame Vertical Steel Roof

The A-frame vertical roof design is quite popular amongst customers because it is not only sturdy but also cost effective. With this type of roof, the roof sheeting runs vertically in length helping snow and other elements slide off easily.

A-Frame Horizontal Steel Roof

Although the A-Frame horizontal roof design looks very similar to the vertical design, the sheets are instead placed horizontally. The A-frame shape still helps the horizontal roof disperse snow fairly well. However, A-frame horizontal roofs are more commonly seen in places that don’t get very much snow.

Other Additional Steel Carport Features Available

Along with your roof style, you have other features that will help make your steel unit truly yours.

Extra Trusses

If you are someone that lives in a place that sees heavy snowfall, it is wise to think about adding extra trusses. The trusses help create an even sturdier support for your metal roof.

Larger Braces

Just as trusses help make your roof stronger, larger braces help increase the strength of the actual steel structure.

45 degree Angles

To give your steel unit a unique look, 45-degree angles sheeting can be installed on the front corners of any A-frame unit design.

Solar Vents

If you plan on using your unit as a workplace, you may choose to have solar air vents installed. Made with high-quality roofing material, the solar vents will allow air to flow inside of your steel unit making it a great place to work. It is important to know that these 5-watt high-efficiency panels can only be installed on A-frame vertical design.

Skylights

Skylights look amazing when added to a steel unit. They are available in different sizes and colors but are also only installed on vertical roofs.
