Month: December 2015

Christmas Parade

3,000 lights, 300 feet of garland, 4,000 square feet of plastic, 200 square feet of steel, 60+ man hours of planning, building and decorating. That is only a portion of what it took to make the Annual Joshua Parade of Lights a huge success for American Steel Carports Inc.

American Steel Carports decided to be a part of the 2015 Parade of Lights months before the actual event was to take place. From that moment we began to plan. American Steel Carports went through 80+ different float themes before landing on the original idea of Santa on his sleigh taking off from his workshop. Once the theme was in place, we started the process of planning materials and shopping for the materials. Eight shopping trips later and we finally had all of the materials that we had originally planned on. There were a few setbacks in the erection of Santa’s Workshop, including last minute changes to colors and a busy shop focusing on getting buildings ready for customers. A week behind schedule, American Steel Carports team began to decorate our float trailer the day before the parade was to take place. American Steel Carports’ parade team came together to get the float decorated and ready by 2 o’clock the day of the parade.

The parade was a success! American Steel Carports gave out frisbees, candy, bags of goodies, and little footballs to all of the children waiting along the parade route. The float was a hit with the onlookers. At the end of the parade, American Steel Carports received a trophy for third place and many people wanted to take pictures with us on the float. We are very happy with the outcome of the parade and cannot wait to attend more local events!

American Steel Carports next event is the Fort Worth Stock Show.  This will be our 4th year in attendance and it’s the biggest event we have been a part of thus far.  It is a 23-day event that takes place at the Will Rogers Memorial Center that starts on January 15th.  If you are in the area pass by and meet us and sign up for the various raffles we will be doing.

American Steel and the Weather

Winter is here, and we want to give you some insight as to what goes on at American Steel Carports during that time.

As the winter months approach, American Steel Carports pushes to get all our orders out before the weather makes it impossible to install. The oldest orders are given priority at the shop and the newer orders are notified that they may not receive their buildings until spring due to the unpredictability of the weather.

There are many reasons why winter makes installing buildings difficult for us.

  • – The ground freezes and makes it impossible to properly anchor buildings.
  • – Installers cannot drive their trailers safely in the snow and ice.
  • – It is hazardous to handle power tools in the wet snow.
  • – Cold metal can also be hazardous because it can stick to exposed din and cause harm to the installers.

Buildings that cannot be installed before winter will be the first to be installed once the weather permits. American Steel handles orders systematically by starting with the oldest orders first, followed by the newer orders. This is our way in keeping our customer happy during unpredictable times.

American Steel Carport’s #1 goal is to satisfy!
