Warranties That Make The GradeJuly 5, 2018/in Blog, News/Press, Questions /by clickgiant

Have you ever heard those scary stories from a neighbor or friend about a carport structure collapsing or even completely blowing away? This sure can be intimidating. There are many ways, however, for you to protect your structure and ensure that it is “built to last.”

American Carports certifies all of its steel structures and offers a one-year, four-season workmanship warranty* on your steel buildings. Unbelievably, that is just the standard warranty. Pretty great, huh? Our engineers have a plan in place to certify all of your building needs. From basic carports to our triple-wide steel warehouses, be assured that we can offer you the best warranties available and assist you with any information that you need.

Did you know that, when you upgrade your building’s frame from our standard 2.5”, 14-gauge galvanized steel to our 2¼”, 12-gauge steel material, your one-year standard warranty will be combined with a 20-year limited warranty** on frame rusting? That sounds expensive, you say. American Carports, however, offers its customers the best of the best at a price that still meets most budgets. Our 12-gauge price options vary depending on the unit’s size and, in most cases, are very similar in cost. Be sure to compare the differences when placing your order.

Do you get a lot of snow? No worries—American Carports has you covered. For heavier snow-load capacities, customers can purchase additional truss and bracing. You also have the ability to choose from a variety of roof options, such as the A-frame vertical or the A-frame horizontal. Our engineers know just what it takes to ensure that your unit has the proper snow load to meet your city code.

They don’t call Chicago the windy city for nothing. For those customers who live in high-wind areas, American Carports offers several anchoring options, including (but not limited to) mobile home, asphalt, and cement anchors. No matter where you are located, be sure to ask about our 90 mph wind warranty.*** Our sales team will help you to determine which type of anchoring system you need. Is your area not very windy at all? Still, you don’t want to be blown away! American Carports will hold it down, as all of our units come with our standard rebar anchors at no additional charge.

Needless to say, American Carports makes the grade, scoring 100% when it comes to offering its customers the quality and protection that they deserve. Be sure to explore all of your warranty options with one of our educated sales reps. At American Carports, your visions are unbounded and will surely be “built to last.”

Weather DelaysJuly 5, 2018/in Blog, News/Press, Questions /by clickgiant

In this business, the longer it takes to complete a project, the more time it’ll be before the next one can get started. Setting back the completion date isn’t something most contractors want to do, but sometimes it’s inevitable. However, it is possible to plan for delays so that they’re less detrimental to the project and its timeline. Checking with your local building department or code enforcement for local codes can expedite the process too.

Setbacks are often caused by factors outside a contractor’s control. For instance, weather conditions can affect a construction timeline. Depending on the location, spring can bring rainy weather and be followed by the dry heat of summer. Fall and winter can bring cooler temperatures, snow, and ice. Each of these can be harmful to materials and machinery and can cause safety hazards to workers on site.

Any sort of outdoor work is made more difficult by rain, and rainy and wet conditions are a frequent reason for contractors to request additional time on a project. Rain can cause myriad problems for people working on construction. Mud can be not only a nuisance, but a safety hazard for anyone driving off a muddy site or for drivers who must share the road with an excessively muddy vehicle. But this can be avoided by using gravel or rock as a base and properly grading the land ahead of time.

Thunderstorms can cause even more damage to a site. And they often come with high winds that can disorganize a job site at best and destroy materials at worst. The hail that accompanies thunderstorms creates another major concern, as it has been known to dent and even break materials like sheet metal and glass.

Spring’s showers might dry up when the summer months come around, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any more risks for the work site. Hot and dry weather brings its own set of problems. Extreme heat can cause health problems to workers, and if they seek relief by removing protections like hard hats and safety glasses, they could put themselves at risk of injury.

Autumn and winter bring cold weather that can have a negative impact as well. The equipment finance advisor noted that mortar and grout can be most affected by cold weather. When they get too cold, they cannot properly absorb moisture, and this makes them weaker and less resistant to water.

Cold weather affects workers too. They need to wear additional layers when working outdoors, and these layers restrict their movement and their ability to handle items carefully. Muscles and joints are also less flexible when cold, which could put workers at greater risk of injury.

Inclement weather can’t be avoided or prevented. In most cases, though, it can be predicted with fair accuracy. If you know that your site is at risk of any of these adverse weather conditions, take precautions to protect your equipment, materials, site, and workers

Mobile Mini also provides mobile offices. These can be used as a places for contractors to store important information about the site, or as a refuge for employees to escape the hot sun or the cold air.

Pre-Fabricated BuildingsJune 19, 2018/in Blog, News/Press /by clickgiant

Steel comes with a handful of benefits in comparison with other elements. The time a unit takes to construct may take longer than wished for but we simplified the process with our pre-fabricated buildings.

What does this mean?

This simply means your unit is drilled and welded at our factory. The components are then carefully loaded onto the trucks and sent off to your chosen construction site.

Read below to see the benefits of pre-manufactured buildings:

• Prices are discussed with you before installation. You will not have sudden price increase for the installation. This is because we provide you with a free estimate and installation.

• Installation may take hours or a couple of days. Whatever the time frame, both you and us, save ourselves the long hassle of erection period by a huge percentage.

• When the buildings are fabricated in the factory, scraps and other leftover material is kept for recycling. It would create a bigger mess if it were constructed on-site.

• Safety is first. Potential hazards are eliminated when the labor is done at our plant. Workers won’t be working in extreme weather for longer periods of time.

• Unpredictable weather is always a likely circumstance, we know this. The likelihood, however, is immensely decreased when you order from a company with pre-fabricated buildings like us.

But what makes us different from the others?

Our pre-fabricated buildings are Engineer-Certified to meet your state codes. We stand behind our product and provide you with the best customer service.

We also provide generic plans on most standard buildings at no extra charge. Additionally, our 360° roof bracing and wind warranty packages guarantee you with a long-lasting durable carport.

We like to keep things simple, and want you to have a smooth process when purchasing from us. That’s why we provide you with as much opportunities as we can.

Give us a call. We would love to hear from you.

The Four Types of Doors We OfferJune 14, 2018/in Blog, News/Press, Questions /by clickgiant

American Steel Carports, Inc. has come a long way since the beginning; we now know that details are very important. From color options to reinforcement and illumination features, we strive to always satisfy your needs. Thanks to this, you now have the opportunity to decide what kind of door you want. Not only does this give your unit more flexibility, it will enhance the overall look of your carport.

Since our customers have a multitude of door options to choose from, you will need to give us more information, from the color to the type and size. If you find yourself with a handful of questions, continue reading ‒ and remember that we’re here to help.

The four types of doors we offer are:

• Walk-In

• Heavy Duty Walk-In

• Overhead

• Roll-Up

Standard Walk-In & Heavy-Duty Walk-In

Convenient and lightweight, these economical 20-gauge doors are essential for those who are looking for an “easy come, easy go” option. Choose from a 36” x 72”, 36” x 80”, or double 72” x 72” door. Though these doors are basic, they deliver more than you bargained for, especially if you upgrade to our heavy duty walk-in. There is no threshold located at the bottom of these doors, making it easy for those who use wheelchairs to enter and exit the building. We offer two sizes: 36” wide by 84” tall and 48” wide by 84” tall. Apart from the different frames, they are reversible and insulated. If extra security and additional strength are what you’re looking for, consider investing in our Heavy Duty Walk-In door.

Remember:

• There is a $75 fee for installing doors on vertical sides.

• There is no extra cost for doors installed on horizontal sides.

• Heavy Duty Walk-In doors must be installed on concrete foundations.

Overhead

Our Overhead doors, also known as Sectional doors, are ideal for those who want to add a residential look to their building. Choose from our standard option, which doesn’t come insulated or with windows, or upgrade to glass windows and insulation. We also offer embossed panel designs: colonial and ranch. Select from white, almond, taupe, and brown color options. Our Overhead doors are larger than our mobile doors, but are easy to open. What makes them different from a Roll-Up door? A Roll-Up door uses a chain to roll up, whereas an Overhead wraps up in sections, like a garage door.

Roll-Up

Not looking to spend much on a large door? Although they serve the same purpose as Overhead doors, these are great for those who want something economical and simple.

We offer 3 types of Roll-Ups:

• Model 650 Mini

• Model 2000 Commercial

• Model 2500 Commercial

Keep in mind that our 6’ x 7’ to 10’ x 10’ sizes are considered mini. Anything above 10’ x 10’ comes with a chain hoist. There is also no outside latch on Roll-Up doors, meaning a Walk-In door is required to open the Roll-Up from the inside.

On top of this information, do you know that you can change the color of your roll-up doors for an additional price? Click here to look at all of the colors we have available to give your building that special touch.

Now that you know about the four different types of doors we offer, you can see that there are many different ways for you to customize your metal building. Remember, we’re here to meet your needs and specifications. Give us a call now for a quick quote and let one of our experts help you build that metal building of your dreams!

What Are My Steel Roof Options?June 14, 2018/in Blog, News/Press, Product Reviews, Questions /by clickgiant

Are you considering a steel garage or steel carport? If so, the first thing you will need to think about is how you will be using your unit. The next step, figure out what roof option you need.

The roof of your steel unit is very important as it will be what protects your belongings. Your steel roof choice can also depict the look of your steel unit, too.

At American Carports, we have two roofing options available to choose from.

A-Frame Vertical Steel Roof

The A-frame vertical roof design is quite popular amongst customers because it is not only sturdy but also cost effective. With this type of roof, the roof sheeting runs vertically in length helping snow and other elements slide off easily.

A-Frame Horizontal Steel Roof

Although the A-Frame horizontal roof design looks very similar to the vertical design, the sheets are instead placed horizontally. The A-frame shape still helps the horizontal roof disperse snow fairly well. However, A-frame horizontal roofs are more commonly seen in places that don’t get very much snow.

Other Additional Features Available

Along with your roof style, you have other features that will help make your steel unit truly yours.

Extra Trusses

If you are someone that lives in a place that sees heavy snowfall, it is wise to think about adding extra trusses. The trusses help to create an even sturdier support for your metal roof.

Larger Braces

Just as trusses help make your roof stronger, larger braces help increase the strength of the actual steel structure.

45-degree Angles

To give your steel unit a unique look, 45-degree angles sheeting can be installed on the front corners of any A-frame unit design.

Skylights

Skylights look amazing when added to a steel unit. They are available in different sizes but are also only installed on vertical roofs.

2018 Colusa County Fair Parade

June 12, 2018/in ACI, Blog, Events, News/Press /by clickgiant

Summer break in California is nothing short of amusing. This weekend, we joined the fun at the Colusa County Fair Parade. We serve most of the state but engaging with our local community is an important value we strive for. So, for the last couple of years we’ve participated at the annual parade. Onesimo, the manager, led the team to yet another successful event. The float design this year was inspired by our agricultural building product line. Who would have ever guessed to see a floating ag barn?! What a creative way to protect yourselves from the summer heat! To cool off the crowd, Daniela, our customer service representative and the team decided to amp up the fun. They filled three barrels of water balloons and had water guns on deck to soak up the Colusa community. No one on that float was dry by the end of the parade. The kids weren’t the only ones who loved it! Iriana, our new team member, experienced the parade for the first time and expressed that she really enjoyed handing items out to people and getting them wet because it felt like she was reliving her childhood again. To top it off, the Colusa community scored free water bottles, caps, frisbees, loads of candy, and key chains on behalf of American Carports. If you saw us there, make sure to stop by our shop and say hello once again! Thank you so much to everyone who engaged with us. It’s an honor to be a part of the Colusa family. Looking forward to next year!

Guatemala: Volcano Eruption 2018June 8, 2018/in Blog, News/Press /by clickgiant

American Carports would like to let those affected by the recent Volcano of Fire in Guatemala, know that our thoughts and prayers are with them. Our deepest condolences are with the victims and their families.

As most of you may know, the Volcano of Fire erupted on June 3, 2018. This has been one of the most powerful eruptions since 1974. The mudflow, and superheated debris switched directions after its eruptions and made its way down the mountain striking many small villages along its path. Many villagers were taken by surprise or simply didn’t have enough time to make it out of its path. Volcanic ash covered the skies as far as Guatemala City forcing the closure of La Aurora International Airport. 109 people have been confirmed dead, 200 missing and hundreds more were reported injured.

We would also like to recognize Shiner’s Hospital in Galveston, TX who have stepped in to treat 6 children who were badly burnt in the volcanic eruption and for all the hospitals on standby ready to take in more patients. Don’t forget to help our brothers in Guatemala.
